Teacher Page
This website provides an investigative Technologies activity for students in Years 3 or 4. It has been designed around the theme of food technologies, specifically about the information provided on food product labels and how it can be used to make healthy eating choices.
Students may work independently or in pairs or small groups, navigating their way through the website and the interactive activities provided. At the conclusion of their investigation, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and understanding by creating their own food labels and also providing a brief justification for their design choices.
Student diversity should be considered for your particular context. This website provides links to various sources of information, activities and games that cater to a range of ability levels. If you feel some of these sources are not appropriate to suit the needs of your learners, you may wish to provide students with alternative sources of information or activities. This website also provides written and verbal instructions, for the development of their own food labels and design report, to accommodate for a wider range of student literacy abilities.
It is the teacher's responsibility to ensure the website is suitable for use for each specific teaching/learning context and that all links are active and appropriate prior to students beginning their investigation.
The links to the Australian Curriculum are as follows:
